Just a week after our Histon Feast concet, we were out again at St Michael’s Church, Bishop’s Stortford, this time playing a fundraising concert for restoration of the church bells. This concert was organised by our local link Rowena.
Not everyone was available but despite being slightly under-strength, the MMO managed a fine evening of music. Thank you to our valiant deps Claire (guitar) and Ian (mandola) for helping to make up a viable group! Persephone and the Cantigas had 2nd outings, mixed with many lighter items – and in honour of the bells, we included Kastelanska Zvona (by Vlado Sunko), which is based on the idea of taking a country walk and hearing the sounds of church bells from several nearby villages, mingling with each other (and when we play this one, Anne chimes in on the glockenspiel).

Along with the feast of music, the audience were also treated to a fine display of Rowena’s mouthwatering collection of antique mandolins.
